Sandy found herself in a difficult position after her partner Jimmy had been diagnosed with leukaemia and needed to take time off work to start his treatment. Even though Sandy was still working they found themselves in a financially difficult position and after Jimmy stopped working, they fell into rent arrears.
Due to the gap in income, Sandy was finding it difficult to stay on top of the bills all by herself, leading to the threat of eviction. Sandy juggled the stresses of holding down her job, being there for Jimmy throughout his treatment and facing eviction; all of this was putting strain on her mental wellbeing.
Sandy had come across information about GroceryAid at work and decided to call the FREE and confidential Helpline. GroceryAid reviewed their circumstances and awarded Sandy and Jimmy a financial grant to help cover some of their outstanding rent arrears. Not only did this help to reduce the family’s stresses, but it also enabled them to stay in their home and focus on Jimmy’s recovery.
