Millions Reached through GroceryAid Day Awareness Campaign

PUBLISHED: 3 May 2022

GroceryAid Day returned for a fourth year on 26th April, with record support from the trade. More than 225 companies took part to raise awareness of the charity across the industry. 117 companies took part for the first time. Over five million people were reached through the awareness activities centered around the theme: #LetsTalkGroceryAid.

There were over 2,500 downloads of the new communications toolkit. These inspired supporters to undertake a variety of activities, including wellbeing sessions, quizzes, virtual triathlons, baking competitions with GroceryAid posters, flyers, wallet cards, stickers and bunting in thousands of depots, factories, stores, and head offices. Toolkits are still available here

“Thank you to everyone who supported GroceryAid Day this year to raise awareness of the charity” says Steve Barnes, GroceryAid Chief Executive.  “The demand for GroceryAid welfare services is growing at an unprecedented level. Last year, GroceryAid experienced a 139% increase in applications for Financial Support Grants and we are proud to be supporting so many colleagues. We want everyone in our trade to know we are there for them when they need support.”

Any colleague working in the grocery industry can access GroceryAid’s emotional and practical support, plus financial advice, from the first day of their employment. After six months of continuous employment, colleagues may be eligible for a non-repayable financial grant.
