The GroceryAid Pedal the Peaks Challenge: A breath-taking adventure on two wheels
The GroceryAid UK Cycle Challenge is a three-day cycle trip suitable for both intermediate and advanced riders, with a new location and routes for 2025.
Staying in the Peak District, you’ll have the chance to take on iconic climbs such as The Whinlatter Pass, the mighty Gun Hill and the Cat & Fiddle. With varying options in elevation and distance, there are two route options routes to choose from, giving you the challenge you’re looking for. Starting on Wednesday with a group ride across the Peaks, we’ll then give you the choice of the Everest Challenge or Mattterhorn Challenge on Thursday and Friday. Friday night will see us celebrate your achievements before we head home on Saturday!
Route 1 – Challenging: 100-140 km & 2800 m climbing per day
For the daring and determined, our Challenging route will push you to new heights. Over three days, you will conquer 8,848 meters of elevation—the equivalent of summiting Mount Everest. Traverse the rugged terrain, tackle steep ascents, and enjoy panoramic views that will take your breath away. This route is perfect for seasoned cyclists looking for the ultimate test of stamina and grit.
Route 2 – Intermediate: 70-100 km & 1500 m climbing per day
If you’re seeking a more approachable yet still challenging ride, our Intermediate route is ideal. With an easier route than the 2024 Coast to Coast ride, you will climb a total of 4,478 meters over three days, mirroring the height of the iconic Matterhorn. This route offers a balance of demanding climbs and rewarding descents, making it perfect for intermediate riders ready to push their limits and experience the stunning landscapes of the Peak District.
In 2025, riders will stay at the same central hotel each night so you can get comfy and feel prepared for the challenge ahead each day. The UK Cycle Challenge is a great way to test yourself, meet new people and strengthen existing relationships.
Ahead of the ride we will have lots of fantastic enhancements, such as guided and virtual training rides, training plans, access to GPX files, bike hire and racking.
The 2024 UK Coast to Coast challenge saw riders cycle their way from the beautiful Georgian coastal town of Whitehaven to the seaside resort of Whitby, raising an incredible £190,000 for GroceryAid along the way.

2024 Highlights
"I started cycling about 3 years ago, wanting to keep my fitness levels up with a low impact sport and cycling is perfect. Signing up for the GroceryAid Coast to Coast cycle gave me an amazing opportunity to challenge myself, pushing myself out of my comfort zone and raising funds to support the industry I work within. The feeling of accomplishment was incredible as I crossed the finished line and I highly recommend this well organised and supported event" - Leanne, KP Snacks
