Helping Nick care

Our Carers Programme offers extra support for those who have caring responsibilities.

Nick heard about the GroceryAid Carers Programme from a colleague and he contacted us to see if we could help him and his wife, Julie.

The couple care for their young son who has limited mobility and speech problems. His medical illness has resulted in delayed development and he has to use a wheelchair and requires 24-hour care.

Nick is a butcher with over 20 years in the industry, while Julie cares full-time for their son.

Following a visit from a GroceryAid Caseworker the family were enrolled on our Carers Programme and now receive regular financial support to help with their extra needs, along with a grant for a sleeping pod which provides essential back support for their son.

The family are also looking forward to a short respite break this summer, something they haven’t been able to do for the last few years.
