Yeo Valley Catch and Cook 2017
Yeo Valley held it's third Catch and Cook event in support of GroceryAid on 5 July 2017. Hosted by Adrian Carne, SW Branch Chair a fun afternoon of fishing took place at Blagdon Lake, Yeo Valley with dinner taking place afterwards at Holt Farm. A total of 25 boats took part in the fly fishing competition. The good news is that all boats returned and a good haul of fish was landed! Despite that the fact that not all the anglers were successful, all the participants had a lovely day in the valley. The weather was beautiful, and the atmosphere very relaxed and friendly.
Grateful thanks go to the contributors of either food, drink or prizes including; Mondelēz International, PepsiCo, Mars (UK), Samworth Brothers, Orchard Pig Cider, Warner Music, Charlie Bigham's, Laverstoke Park, Honda and Big Fish Design. Thanks also to all of the teams who took part and for helping to raise just over £10,000 on the day. The date being planned for next year will be 4 July 2018.
Arla Foods Golf Day 2017
On 15 June 2017 Arla Foods hosted a Golf Day for the South West branch raising £6,900. Ash Amirahmadi, Commercial Director at Arla Foods and President’s Fundraising Committee member took on the challenge to organise the day. Set within the beautiful and picturesque grounds of Bovey Castle Hotel in Devon, eighteen teams took place in the tournament. The eventual winners of the tournament were Meadow Foods with Ginsters being a close second. The weather was terrific and the course in excellent condition. All the guests (competitors), enjoyed a fun and relaxed day.
Thanks go to Samworth Brothers Ltd for sponsoring the beer, Orchard Pig for supplying cider, PepsiCo for supplying soft drinks, Ginsters for providing savoury snacks and Mondelēz International for supplying chocolate. In addition raffle prizes were supplied by Mars (UK) and Ornua Foods UK. A date has already been set for next year’s event - it will be 7 June 2018.
A Night at the Races 2017
On Thursday 9 March, over 150 guests from numerous FMCG businesses gathered at The Bristol Hotel on the City’s waterfront to raise money for GroceryAid.
The event was a great success, with the evening’s activities involving charity horse racing, a silent auction and a raffle. In total, ‘An Evening at the Races’ raised over £10,500 for Grocery Aid – a wonderful result.
