We’re not buying it and we’re asking the industry not to buy loneliness too.
Loneliness is a big issue we face, having a particular impact on those who have retired and lost their partner but also on millions of others every day. With over half of over 75 year olds living alone (ONS) and 2/5 of all older people saying the TV is their main source of company (Age UK) it is no wonder loneliness has become such a rife issue we face.
There is also growing evidence of the health consequences caused by loneliness with End Loneliness claiming that it increases the likelihood of mortality by up to 26%.

How does GroceryAid help people feeling lonely?
GroceryAid’s Befriending Service - aims to alleviate social isolation and support vulnerable adults across the UK. The befriending calls are reassuring, supportive and check that the individual is okay. You will be able to talk about anything you like - whether you fancy a light-hearted chat or a chance to 'get it all off your chest' – depending on what kind of a week you've had. In a nutshell, the service will be like having a supportive friend at the end of the phone when it’s convenient for you.
