Family and support

GroceryAid, in partnership with the registered charity Relate, provides free relationship counselling and support for people working in the grocery industry.

Healthy relationships with our partners and family are vital to our health and wellbeing. There’s lots of evidence that strong relationships help us live a long, happy and healthy life. But as we move through life we can experience changes and transitions that can put pressure on our relationships. At these times it’s good to know that there’s support available to help you, your partner or family cope with both the emotional and practical impact on your lives together.

How can GroceryAid help?

GroceryAid has partnered with Relate to provide free relationship counselling and support for grocery colleagues in England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Relate has over 75 years’ experience of providing relationship support to individuals, couples and families and they help over one million people in the UK every year. Relate counsellors and therapists are non-judgemental, impartial and everything you tell them is completely confidential unless someone’s personal safety is at risk.

What services are available?

If you’d like some help with a relationship or family issue Relate offer lots of ways you can talk to a counsellor online, by phone or face-to-face so that you can choose the support that works for you. You may decide to use a mix of these services depending on your situation.

Live Chat: If you’d like to talk to someone now you can chat online with relationship counsellor via your smartphone, computer or tablet. Live Chat sessions usually last around 25 minutes and are designed to help you work out your next steps. Before you start your chat you’ll be asked a couple of questions about your work in the Grocery industry to determine if you’re eligible to use this service.

Face-to-face counselling: You’ll meet with a relationship counsellor or sex therapist in a private room in your local Relate Centre. You can attend face-to-face counselling as an individual, with your partner or as a family group. You can meet with your counsellor or therapist regularly for as long as you feel it’s helpful. Please note that Sex Therapy is only for couples or individuals and is only offered as a face-to-face service.

TelephoneTelephone counselling: If you’d like to talk to someone but you’re unable to attend a face-to-face session you can work with a relationship counsellor over the phone. You can book a 30 or 60 minute appointment and you can have telephone counselling as an individual, with your partner or other family members in a conference call.
